Genetic Genealogy

Using DNA and Genetic Genealogy to expand your research

Genetic genealogy is the use of genealogical DNA testing in combination with the use of traditional family history records to trace your ancestors and living relatives.

When used with traditional genealogy, it can identify relatives that cannot be obtained through tradition research alone.

Examples include:

  • Finding relatives that were adopted
  • Finding the parents of illegitimate children
  • Tracing living relatives
  • Confirming the relationship between two people.  For example, Is Fred Smith my great grandfather, or is there any truth in the family rumour that it was really John Jones?

How can we help?

If you have not already taken a genetic DNA test, we can help you choose which test would be the most suitable to match for your research requirement. Once your test results are back, we can provide an analysis of your DNA results, and provide a research plan to identify the relatives you are searching.
